Bhubaneswar: One month after a hotel owner was critically injured in a murderous attack by miscreants in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar, the mastermind in the crime has been arrested by the police.
The accused, identified as Subhrajit Pradhan alias Malinga, has been arrested by a team of police personnel from Bharatupr from a remote area in Kandhamal district, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh said.
While Malinga was the main accused in the case, around seven others involved in the attack are absconding and efforts are on to nab them, he told reporters.
It may be noted here that hotel owner, identified as Sajamn Samal, had sustained grievous injuries after allegedly being attacked with sticks and swords at Kalinga Vihar under Bharatpur police limits on October 26 during Durga Puja immersion ceremony. The entire attack was captured in a CCTV camera.
Around 20-25 persons barged into the hotel and attacked Samal with swords. Samal alleged that the attackers pushed him from the 3-storey building. The hotelier had identified some of his attackers.
