Mastermind Of Bike-Lifting Gang Nabbed In Bhubaneswar; 16 Motorcycles Seized

Bhubaneswar: Capital police have busted a bike-lifting gang in Bhubaneswar with the arrest of four persons, including the mastermind Sukanta Kumar Reddy.

The other arrested have been identified as Soumitra Das, Gunadhar Mirda and Somanath Das, all natives of West Bengal and residing in Bhubaneswar. Reddy hails from Berhampur.

Sixteen bikes and over 40 spare parts have been seized from their possession. 

Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media that inter-district gang operated in market areas and crowded places.”Reddy is a mechanic and he did recee of parking lots near Biju Patnaik Park, Unit-1 and Unit-2 markets, Capital Hospital, Bapuji Nagar and Ashok Nagar regularly to identify the motorcycles, which he stole using a master key during morning hours. He then took them to railway parking lot and other areas. After a few days, he would bring the stolen two-wheelers to his garage at Sriram Nagar and refurbished them slightly. His associates helped him to sell off those bikes and other spare parts,” he added.
