Lucknow: A second-year MBBS student at Varun Arjun Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Shahjahanpur district was found dead in the hostel premises on the campus under suspicious circumstances. His body was found in a pool of blood outside his hostel room Monday morning.
“He was a second-year MBBS student at the college. He is a resident of Gorakhpur. Today his body was found lying behind the hostel, after which the police were informed,” PTI quoted the college principal, Colonel (retired) Dr Ravindra Nath Shukla as saying.
Kushagra Pratap Singh, 24, lived on the ground floor of the three-storey hostel. Police believe that he fell or was pushed from the upper floor. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
“We received information about the body of a second-year student found at the medical college,” said Rajesh Yash, the Superintendent of Police.
“Upon inspection, it was observed that the student’s room was on the ground floor, and no one else was present in that area. It appears that the student either fell to his death from the third floor or was pushed by someone. We are investigating whether this was a case of suicide or foul play,” he added.
The police have sealed the room and are questioning the students at the hostel. They have also informed Kushagra’s family in Gorakhpur about the unfortunate incident.
