MCL Cup: Unit-VI, Times Gurukul post wins

Bhubaneswar: Home favourites Unit-VI Boys’ High School and Times Gurukul School registered emphatic wins in respective league matches of the 29th MCL Cup Bhubaneswar Inter-School Football Tournament here at Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground on Thursday.
Unit-VI High School rode on a double by Akash Naik to thrash Venkateswar English Medium School 4-0 in Group-D. Akash struck in 22nd and 34th mintues after Bikash Naik opened the account in the 19th minute. Hari Singh netted the fourth and the last goal in the 43rd minute. Akash was named the player of the match and he received the prize from senior volleyball coach Amiya Kumar Mishra.

Later in the day, Times Gurukul School defeated Stewart School 3-1 in Group-C. Biswa Ranjan Hibru (10th), Chinmay Samal (45th) and Jayed Khan (55th) scored a goal each for the winners, while Aman Mohanty (40th) reduced the margin for Stewart. Chinmay Samal received the player of the match prize from former Odisha hockey player Joseph Kerketta.

The matches were officiated by match commissioner Maheswar Singh along with referees Prakash Kumar Das, Pradipta Nayak, Saroj Moharana, Saukat Khan and Bulbul Bhoi.
