Mercury Soars Past 34°C In Bhubaneswar Again This Feb; IMD Predicts 3-5°C Fall In Night Temp

Bhubaneswar: The night temperature is likely to gradually fall by 3-5°C during the next 4 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the day temperature soared past 34°C in Bhubaneswar for the second time this month. The state capital recorded 34.4°C at 2.30 pm, according to senior meteorologist Umasankar Das.

Bhubaneswar had recorded 34.9°C on February 4.

Similarly, mercury crossed 36°C in Jharsuguda this afternoon. The industrial town recorded 36.4°C at 2.30 pm as against 35.6°C during this hour the previous day, he added.

On Tuesday, Jharsuguda was the hottest in the state at 36.6°C, followed by Balangir (35.7°C), Angul (35.7°C), Sambalpur (35.3°C), Bhawanipatna (35.2°C), Sonepur (35.2°C), Bhadrak (35.2°C) and Malkangiri (35.1°C). The rise in the day temperature was attributed to an approaching western disturbance and moisture incursions due to the presence of an anti-cyclonic flow.

The weather agency has also forecast shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours at one or two in North Coastal Odisha till February 13.
