Kyiv: The number of casualties among mediapersons in the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine continued to rise as a renowned Ukrainian photojournalist, who had been missing for more than a fortnight, was found dead near the capital city.
“Maks Levin went missing in the conflict area on March 13 in the Kyiv region. His body was found near the village of Guta Mezhygirska on April 1,” Ukrainian presidential aide Andriy Yermak said on Telegram.
Levin, a documentary photographer who also worked with Reuters, BBC, Associated Press and WHO Ukraine, is survived by wife and four children.

According to The Kyiv Independent, Levin had travelled to Vyshgorod, near Kyiv, to document the war.
A probe by the Institute of Mass Information found that Levin was killed by ‘two shots’ from Russian troops.
Levin had been lucky eight years ago as he managed to escape from an eastern Ukrainian town when fighting was taking place between Ukrainian forces and Russia-backed separatists.
Mediapersons killed so far
* March 26 — Russian journalist Oksana Baulina of investigative news outlet The Insider wounded fatally in Russian shelling at a residential neighbourhood in Kyiv. Baulina had also worked for Opposition leader Alexey Navalny’s anti-corruption group.
