In a written reply, the minister said the state government has taken steps for the admission of 100 students to MBBS streams in the upcoming medical college this year. The government will seek permission in this regard from the Medical Council of India (MCI) by September 26, Das added.
Besides, efforts are on to recruit 271 staff for the 500-bed hospital, he said.

The state government had signed an MOU with NTPC on December 13, 2013, for establishing the medical college and hospital. The government has agreed to run the institution.
Accordingly, the construction of the proposed hospital started in 2014. The work was completed around a few months ago.
