Rourkela: Medical Officer of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela was found hanging in his house here on Monday.
The Medical Officer, identified as Dr Santosh Hugar and aged around 30 years, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the house inside the NIT campus, sources said.
The doctor, who was unmarried, had reportedly joined the institute in 2023. He was staying alone in the official quarters located on the premises of the NIT.
While Hugar was suspected to have died by suicide, the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, a team of police personnel visited the site and initiated a probe into the incident. Steps were taken for sending the body for autopsy. Further details are awaited.
