Bhubaneswar: A student of Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital, Dr Tanvi Sharma, donated her plasma on Wednesday.
“We have completed her procedure,” an official release from SCB said.
The student had recently recovered from the infection.
“We salute the spirit of our COVID Warrior,” tweeted the Health Department.
She is the first woman donor of plasma in Odisha, which has so far seen four critically-ill patients recovering from COVID-19 after undergoing the procedure.

Plasma is currently being collected at SCB in Cuttack and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Plasma Bank at Capital Hospital here and launched a web portal for plasma donors.
Plasma banks will also be set up at IGH, Rourkela, VIMSAR, Burla, and MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, he had informed.

Convalescent plasma therapy began in three hospitals – SUM Hospital and KIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack – on July 15 and July 16. The service was started at Tata COVID Hospital at Sitalapalli in Ganjam district on July 22.

Ashwini: 8 transfused: 1, discharged, 5 improved, 1 same, 1 die
SUM: 6 transfused: 1 discharged, 1 improved, 4 die
KIMS: 12 transfused: 9 improving
