Sambalpur: A medical student of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) drowned in Hirakud reservoir in Sambalpur district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sumit Singh (22). He was a third-year MBBS student and a native of Rajasthan.
According to sources, the incident took place when Sumit had gone to the reservoir with his friends to take bath. He accidentally slipped and drowned in the reservoir.
On being informed, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and fished out the body from the reservoir.
