Rajouri: Even after 15 months from the start of India’s inoculation drive against COVID-19, there is still opposition to vaccines.
Members of a medical team which had travelled to Madhaar village in Kashmir’s Rajouri district to vaccinate school students were in for a rude shock.
Even as they reached the premises of Government Middle School Madhaar to administer COVID vaccine to children in the 12-15 age group, local people attacked and assaulted them, Mirror Now reported.
According to Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Iqbal Malik, villagers obstructed the vaccination procedure and held the Health department team from Kandi block hostage for over an hour.
The officials were threatened and attacked, before being locked up in a room, the BMO said.
The incident has been reported to the police and an FIR filed against the accused.
Police said they are probing the incident and the accused will be nabbed soon.
