Bhadrak: A medicine store in Odisha’s Bhadrak town was sealed after Health Department officials discovered a large quantity of foreign liquor concealed in cartons during a routine licence verification raid.
The raid was conducted at Shree Ganesh Medicine Store, situated near the bypass road.
According to
sources, officials had visited the pharmacy to check its licence documents when they stumbled upon several cartons packed with bottles of foreign liquor inside the premises. The health team immediately alerted the local police, who rushed to the spot, seized the liquor bottles.
Following the recovery, authorities sealed the pharmacy as per procedure.
The inspection also revealed that the store had been operating without a valid drug licence since 2022.
Local residents have expressed shock and raised serious questions about how the medicine shop managed to function openly for nearly three years without proper authorisation and apparently without attracting the attention of the Bhadrak Drug Inspector.
