Puri: Meenakshi Seshadri, who was among the most popular actresses in the Hindi film industry in the 1980s and 1990s, offered prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri on Thursday.
The actress, who had travelled to Bhubaneswar to attend an event as the chief guest, said that she was in Puri after almost a gap of 30 years. “I realised that it was a call from Lord Jagannath and I should go to Puri for darshan of the sibling deities,” she told the media.
Meenakshi said that she had planned a early morning trip to Puri but it was delayed as some rituals were on at the 12th century shrine. “If you have Lord Jagannath’s blessings, you will be drawn to the temple. I have been to Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Konark earlier too. I find people here to be simple, spiritual and emotional,” she said.
The actress was also impressed with the development around the temple, which is now centred around an expansive 75-metre parikrama, giving a clear view of the majestic 214.8 ft-high shrine and its Neelachakra.
It may be noted that Meenakshi moved to the US after his last film in 1997 and returned to India last year.
