Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old boy from Bhubaneswar is using rap and hip-hop music to create awareness about COVID-appropriate behaviour.
With #MAHAMARI, Diptyranjan Routray wants to put the ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ message loud and clear.
“COVID-19 has spread its tentacle across the world and creating havoc with lives and livelihood. Through my song, I want to emphasise the need to follow the COVID guidelines issued by central and state governments to keep the virus at bay,” said this Class 12 student of SAI International School.
He has also highlighted the efforts being put in by COVID warriors and the plight of the daily wage labourers during the pandemic. “People should follow all the norms and maintain social distancing. We should wear mask properly. If we will fight together, we will win over the situation,” he said.
Dipty has been writing songs in Odia on several social issues and culture, tradition and food culture of Odisha, since last one year. He also performs on them and uploads the videos on his YouTube channel. In one of his earlier videos, he can be seen rapping about the beauty of Odisha.
“I want to promote our culture and tradition and positivity in the society through my songs,” he added.
Dipty has paid tribute to MS Dhoni in one of my songs, another to students, worrying over marks in the examination.
“Writing and rapping is a passion. This is something I want to continue doing along with my studies. I want to represent Odisha through my Rap songs,” he added.
