Mumbai: Who is the richest woman in India?
No, it isn’t Nita Ambani or Isha Ambani.
Meet Roshni Nadar (43), daughter of HCL Technologies founder Shiv Nadar. She has now been elevated to the top spot after being gifted 47% stake in the HCL Technologies promoter firms. She now owns 57.33% of the company.
With a net worth of US$ 35.9 billion, Roshni is now the third richest Indian, according to Bloomberg Billionaires – India. Topping the list is Mukesh Ambani with US$ 88.1 billion. Gautam Adani is in second place with US$ 68.9 billion.
According to Bloomberg, Roshni is not only the richest woman in India, but the whole of Asia. She is also the fifth richest woman in the world. This happened last week, after HCL Tech, in a regulatory filing, announced that Shiv Nadar has transferred 47% of his holding in Vama Sundari Investments (Delhi) and HCL Corporation – two promoter firms of HCL Tech – to his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra through a gift deed.
Before execution of the gift deed Shiv Nadar held 51% shares in Vama Sundari Investments (Delhi) and HCL Tech. His daughter held 10.33% shares in these two firms. These two firms jointly hold a 44.34% stake in HCL Tech, the third largest IT services firm in India.
