Mumbai: In a complete role reversal, Sanjay Dutt has been appointed as the tourism ambassador of Zanzibar.
Besides promoting tourism, the 63-year-old Bollywood actor plans to invest in Investment, Health and Education sectors.
Dutt, who met Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi and other dignitaries during his recent visit to the island city on Indian Ocean, shared the news on social media platforms.
“It was a pleasure to meet you @dr.hmwinyi. I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the Investment, Health & Education sector of Zanzibar as well as be the ambassador to promote tourism for this beautiful island city, with the support of your government,” Dutt wrote along with pictures from his meeting.
Cancer survivor Sanjay, who served a prison term for being found guilty of illegal possession of arms under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act in the 1990s, also met the Prime Minister of Tanzania.
“It was truly an honour to have met the honorable Prime Minister @kassim_m_majaliwa! I’m glad to be able to support the Tanzanian film industry and also invest in the tourism of your beautiful country! Hoping to visit again soon!” Sanjay wrote.
