Bhubaneswar: CBSE Far East Zone Swimming Competition organised by KIIT International School concluded here on Sunday. South Point, Kolkata, bagged the overall champion trophy while South Point, Guahati, became runners up.
The event saw 400 participants of 70 schools from 10 states.
The swimming competition along with National Inter-University Sports competition began on Thursday.
A total of 3,500 students from 163 universities of the country are participating in the competition.
The students are competing in badminton (women), tennis (men and women), volleyball (men), basketball (men) and hockey (men and women).
For these events, accommodation for 10,000 people has been arranged on KIIT campus. Under the leadership of KIIT Sports Director Dr Gaganendu Das, 300 employees have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the events.
Besides, India-China Chess Summit is underway on the campus. All Odisha Chess Association has been jointly organising the submit with Odisha Chess Association and KIIT University. Grandmasters from India and China are participating in the summit, which will conclude on Monday.
The KIIT cricket stadium is also buzzing with activity as Vinoo Mankad Trophy (U-19) Zonal League Tournament organised by Board of Control for Cricket in India is underway.
Training and selection camp of U-17 (Women) Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament by the Sports Authority of India too is being conducted on the campus.
