Paradip: A ‘City Mission’ team from Meghalaya was all praise for the Odisha government for various measures taken for women empowerment after visiting several projects in the port town of Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
Vice Chairperson of Paradip Municipality Chhabilata Rout said, “The City Mission team from Meghalaya visited various activities promoted by the state government to create livelihood for women of SHGs. The team members were happy.”
According to sources, the 11-member team came on a two-day Odisha visit which since Tuesday and saw various projects being executed in Paradip to make women financially empowered and self-sufficient.
After arriving from Bhubaneswar in the morning, the members took stock of projects like Mo Khata Yojana (bio-compost manufacturing), Aahaar Kendra (subsidised meal centre) and short stay shelter for labourers – all managed by members of various self help groups (SHGs).
They got hands-on experience on these projects and sought to know from the SHG members and the staff of Paradip municipality about the project management. Later, they took food at an Aahaar Kendra and were happy after relishing a dish made from coconut.
Speaking on the visit, Sieespahkurbah, City Mission Manager of National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), expressed her happiness over the projects and thanked the government and the civic body authorities for their successful tour
