New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear a plea seeking former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s release on Tuesday, according to a report by news agency ANI. Mufti has been under detention since August 5 last year, when the Centre revoked the erstwhile state’s special status.
Mufti’s daughter Iltija filed a habeas corpus petition earlier in September that challenged her mother’s detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
The former Jammu and Kashmir CM is currently lodged in her Gupkar home, which has been turned into a sub-jail. Mufti was shifted here on April 27.
