Main Samay Hoon! Popular Comedian Thanks Fans For Paying Lawyer’s Fee At Canada Show

Mumbai: Popular Comedian Samay Raina recently performed in Canada, his first show since the India’s Got Latent controversy erupted.

He eased the tension by joking about the controversy at the packed Myer Horowitz Theater in Edmonton and even thanked the audience for “paying” his legal fees with their ticket purchases.

One of his fans, Shubham Dutta, who attended the live show, shared an emotional post on Facebook with the title, ‘The Show Must Go On’.

The post read, “I finally understood the true meaning of this phrase just a few hours ago when I attended this man’s live show! For the first time, I witnessed nearly seven hundred so-called “spoiled” members of today’s generation screaming his name at the top of their lungs, while in the middle of them stood a professional stand-up comedian, tears streaming down his face right before starting the set.”

“For the first time, I saw a 25-year-old guy, weighed down by immense mental pressure, dark circles under his eyes, a sunken face, and unkempt hair, walk onto the stage in a dust-covered black hoodie. His first words into the mic?

“Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees,” the user quoted Raina.

Samay on BeerBiceps controversy

Joking about the ongoing controversy involving podcaster  Ranveer Allahbadia, Raina said, “Iss show pe bahut mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai (There will be many moments in this show where you might think I could say something really funny, but in those moments, just remember BeerBiceps, brother,” Dutta’s post read.

He wrote further, “A man who, despite being in a dangerously turbulent phase of his life, still managed to make everyone laugh for two hours ended the show with these words: ‘Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon (Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am time itself)’.”

He, later, deleted the post but by then many had already reposted it on their timelines.

The show was part of his live comedy tour, Samay Raina Unfiltered.

Rebel Kid’s Move

On the other hand, Approva Mukhija aka Rebel Kids who was also dragged into the ‘India Got Latent’ controversy,  has unfollowed everyone on Instagram. This move by Apoorva comes after her name was also mentioned in the FIRs filed following the controversy.

The controversy

The roast show was dragged into a controversy following outrage over a joke about ‘watching your parents have sex or joining them’ by Allahbadia, who was one of the guests. Several FIRs were filed against the two as well as other panelists.

The Supreme Court also pulled up the social media influencer for his comments and directed him and his associates not to air any show till further orders while granting him interim protection from arrest.
