Chain-Snatching Menace Continues In Bhubaneswar, Miscreants Target Morning Walker

Bhubaneswar: A day after ornaments worth several lakhs were looted from a flat, a chain-snatcher-duo decamped with necklace of an elderly woman from Kalinga Vihar area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday morning.

The incident took place when the woman was walking towards her house after taking a walk in her colony in the morning. The entire act was caught on a CCTV camera installed in the locality.

The footage showed a man snatching the chain from the victim’s neck and rushing towards his partner waiting with a motorcycle a few metres away. The duo riding on the bike sped away within moments, leaving the elderly woman pleading for help.

The incident triggered panic in Kalinga Vihar area of the city with residents, especially the senior citizens, demanding intensified patrolling and surveillance.

According to sources, no formal complaint has been filed in this connection. However, Tamando police acted suo motto and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
