Mercury Breaches 40 Degree Celsius In 4 Places Of Odisha; Malkangiri Hottest

Bhubaneswar: For the first time in this season, maximum temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in four places of Odisha on Saturday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Malkangiri registered the highest temperature in the state at 41 degree Celsius.

Malkangiri was followed by Boudh and Titlagarh with 40.5 degree and Balangir with 40.2 degree Celsius. Naygarh registered 40 degree on the day. The maximum (day) temperature had touched 40 degree Celsius at 5 places in the state on Friday.

The Met office said due to prevailing dry conditions in major parts of the state and high solar insolation, maximum
temperature is likely to be between 38 to 40 degree Celsius at many places in interior parts and between 36 to 38 degree in the coastal districts during next 4 to 5 days.

The minimum temperature (night temperature) is also likely to see a gradual rise by 2-3 degree during next 4-5 days at many places. Most parts of coastal districts is likely to have minimum temperature between 24 to 26 degree and interior districts between 22 to 24 degree.

The IMD said warm night conditions prevailed at isolated places in interior Odisha and the condition is likely to continue for next 4 to 5 days.
