Mercury Crosses 40°C At 17 Places In Odisha, Jharsuguda Hottest At 43.4°C

Bhubaneswar: With heatwave further intensifying across Odisha, temperature rose above 40 degrees Celsius in at least 17 places in the state on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Boudh closely followed recording 42.8 degrees Celsius, while Angul and Sambalpur registered 42.3 degrees Celsius each.

Similarly, Hirakud recorded 42 degrees Celsius, followed by Baripada at 41.8 degrees Celsius. Bhawanipatna, Balangir and Titlagarh recorded 41.5 degrees Celsius each, while Talcher logged 41.6 degrees Celsius.

High temperatures were also recorded in Balasore at 40.2 degrees Celsius, Sundargarh at 40.5 degrees Celsius, Bhadrak at 40 degrees Celsius and Bargarh at 40.4 degrees Celsius.

State capital Bhubaneswar recorded 39 degrees Celsius, while in Cuttack it was 39.6 degrees Celsius. Puri remained relatively cooler at 35.4 degrees Celsius and Gopalpur recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius.
