Mercury Dips Further In Odisha, No Respite From Cold Till Jan 4: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha on Thursday continued to shiver under the cold wave sweeping the state with a further fall in the night temperature.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature recorded till 8.30 am on Thursday was lowest in Phulbani at 7°C and Daringbadi in Kandhamal district at 9.5°C.

Besides, Cuttack recorded a minimum temperature of 12.8°C and Bhubaneswar shivered at 13.8°C.

Apart from this, the night temperature remained below 15°C at 20 places in Odisha including Balasore (13.3), Chandbali (12.9), Angul (13.6), Baripada (10.5), Jharsuguda (12.6), Keonjhar (11.1), Sambalpur (14.1), Sundargarh (10.5), Hirakud (14.3), Talcher (12.8), Bhawanipatna (12.5), Balangir (12.7), Koraput (11.4), Titlagarh (13.5), Sonepur (12.8), Nayagarh (13.3), Boudh (12.5) and Rayagada (12).

The IMD further said that the cold wave conditions will prevail Odisha till the next five days up to January 4 as the night temperature will fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius and by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the interior districts.
