Bhubaneswar: With the cold wave sweeping Odisha again, the mercury plummeted to 9.7 degree Celsius at Kirei in Sundargarh district while dense fog engulfed Jeypore in Koraput on Friday.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), 17 places in the state recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degree Celsius and below.
Besides Kirei, Jharsuguda saw the mercury drop to 12 degree Celsius followed by G Udayagiri in Kandhamal (12.4), Sundargarh (12.5), Ranital in Bhadraj (13), Phulbani in Kandhamal (13), Daringbadi in Kandhamal (13), Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi (13.2), Keonjhar (13.2), Deogarh (13.4), Bargarh (13.8), Sonepur (14.2), Balasore (14.6), Sambalpur (14.6), Angul (14.6) Hirakud In Sambalpur (14.7) and Baripada (15).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 16.8 degree Celsius and 16.4 degree Celsius respectively.
Notably, the MeT office has predicted a gradual fall in the night temperature by 3-4 degree Celius over the next 3 days with no change thereafter.
