Bhubaneswar: The mercury is likely to soar to 38°C in Odisha capital with the India Meteorological Department predicting a gradual rise in the day temperature by 4-6°C during the next 3 days.
Bhubaneswar along with Cuttack has been recording below normal temperature for the past few days amid some spells of rain. The cities had recorded 34.6 and 34°C, respectively, in the last 24 hours with Boudh being the hottest at 37.2°C followed by Malakangiri (37.1) and Titlagarh (37).
According to the weather agency, the mercury levels may touch 40°C in Boudh and Titlagarh by March 13. Several places in western and souther Odisha may experience similar temperature the following day.
The night temperature may also rise by 2-4°C during the next 3 days, it added.
The weather agency further said that dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across the state till March 13 and light to moderate rain may resume at some place thereafter.
