Mercury May Soar To 44°C In Bhubaneswar Amid Severe Heatwave Warning For 3 Days

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will continue to experience discomfort due to hot and humid weather and heatwaves conditions during the next four days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.

The weather agency has also issued orange warning of severe heatwave for 3 days. The day temperature is likely to soar to 40°C or above at most places in Odisha and remain 3-5°C above normal in some districts during the next 4 days due to prevailing mainly northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation. People have been advised to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are likely to register 44°C and 43°C, respectively, on April 18-19, with Boudh and Jharsuguda being the hottest at 45°C.

APRIL 18

Orange Warning

Heatwave to severe heatwave condition may prevail at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Nuapada.

Heatwave conditions are also likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Ganjam.

Yellow Warning

Heatwave condition may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Gajapati and Bargarh.

Hot and humid weather conditions is also likely at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Jajpur.

APRIL 19

Orange Warning

Heatwave to severe heatwave condition may occur at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Boudh.

Heatwave conditions are also likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Ganjam.

Yellow Warning

Heatwave condition is likely at one or two places in Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Kalahandi.

Hot and humid weather conditions may prevail at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Jajpur.

APRIL 20

Orange Warning

Heatwave conditions may prevail at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack Khurda, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Angul, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Boudh and Keonjhar.

Yellow Warning

Heatwave condition is also likely at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Sonepur, Balangir and Kalahandi

Hot and humid weather may persist at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Jajpur.

There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain/thundershower at one or two places oin Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Puri, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

APRIL 21

Yellow Warning

Heatwave condition may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Boudh, Kandhamal and Balasore.

Hot and humid weather conditions are also likely at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam and Jajpur.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occure occur at a few places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Bhadrak, and Jajpur and at one or two places in Boudh, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sonepur, Balangir, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.

APRIL 22

Yellow Warning

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur at Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Gajapati, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.

Light to moderate rain may continue at isolated places in the state during the subsequent 2 days.
