Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha’s twin cities dropped below 20 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 17.5 and 16.5 degree Celsius, respectively.
Amid the IMD forecast about likely dip in the minimum temperature across Odisha, the mercury plummeted to 6.7 degree Celsius in Kirei in Sundargarh district, followed by 9.1 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda, 9.2 degree Celsius in Sundargarh, 9.9 degree Celsius in Rourkela, 10.4 degree Celsius in G Udayagiri in Kandhamal, 11.2 degree Celsius in Koraput, which also experienced dense fog, and 11.5 degree Celsius in Keonjhar.
The weather agency said that the night temperature may not witness any large change during the next 24 hours, but rise gradually by 2-4 degree Celsius thereafter during the subsequent 3 days.
Light rain may also occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput till 8.30 am on February 10 and resume a day later at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur districts. Light rain is also likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal on February 12. While dry weather will prevail during the subsequent two days, light rain is expected at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Deogarh on February 15.
