Bhubaneswar: With the mercury continuing to rise across Odisha, maximum temperature soared to 37 degree Celsius or above in at least 13 places in the state on Wednesday.
Similarly, at least five places in the state boiled at temperature of 38 degree Celsius or more during the day, according to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Boudh turned out to be the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 38.5 degree Celsius. This was closely followed by Nayagarh which recoded 38.2 degree Celsius.
Similarly, the mercury shot up to 38 degree Celsius in Bhawanipatna, Balangir and Malkangiri.
Rayagada and Nabarangpur recorded 37 degree Celsius, while temperature stood at 37.2, 37.4, 37.6 and 37.8 degrees at Chandbali, Jharsuguda, Talcher and Paralakhemundi respectively.
The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded maximum temperature of 36.1 degree Celsius, while the mercury stood at 36.5 degree C in Cuttack.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected to rise gradually by 2-3 degree Celsius during next 3 days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha, said the MeT Centre.
The minimum temperature (night temperature) will also gradually rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 2 days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Meanwhile, the MeT Centre predicted light rain at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and dry weather over the rest districts of Odisha by 8.30 am tomorrow.
