Mercury Shoots Up In Odisha, Angul Hottest At 39.7 Degrees C

Bhubaneswar: Temperature went up alarmingly in most parts of Odisha on Sunday with 13 places in the state recording 37 degree Celsius and above.

While Angul recorded the highest temperature at 39.7 degrees, Titlagarh and Bhubaneswar recorded 39.5 and 39.2 degree Celsius respectively.

The 10 other places where mercury hovered around 37 Degrees and above are Chandbali (37.2), Cuttack (37.6), Jharsuguda (38.3), Sambalpur (38.9), Sundargarh (37), Hirakud (38.3), Bhawanipatna (38.4), Malkangiri (38.4), Sonepur (37.6) and Dhenkanal (38.7).

Besides, temperature also went past 30 Degrees in Paradip (30.5), Gopalpur (32) and Puri (32.6) situated near the Bay of Bengal.

A Met release on Sunday evening said though there will be sporadic rainfall in some parts of central and coastal districts, temperature will go up in the state from March 10onwards.
