Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for some districts of Odisha for four days.
Light to moderate is also likely at isolated places across the state.
The weather agency has also forecast a gradual rise in both day and night temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 2-3 days. Till 2.30 pm, the mercury had soared to 38 degree Celsius at two places in the state. Chandbali was the hottest at 38.1°C, followed by Hirakud (38°C), Sambalpur (37.9°C), Jharsuguda (37.4°C), and Bhubaneswar (37.3°C). The day temperature may soar to 40°C at several places in the state during the next five days, according to the MeT office.
On Wednesday, five places in the state recorded 38 degree Celsius or more with Boudh being the hottest at 38.5 degree Celsius followed by Nayagarh at 38.2 degree Celsius and Bhawanipatna, Balangir and Malkangiri at 38 degree Celsius each. The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded maximum temperature of 36.1 degree Celsius, while the mercury stood at 36.5 degree C in Cuttack.

Thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Gajapati, and Rayagada districts.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Jajpur.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
MARCH 30
Thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Angul.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj.
MARCH 31
Thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continues at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts during the subsequent 24 hours. Dry weather will prevail thereafter, it added.
