Mumbai: Actor Prateik Babbar, who recently tied the knot with actress Priya Banerjee in a private ceremony, left tongues wagging by not inviting his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar and his half-siblings to his wedding.
After revealing that his family was hurt on not being invited for the wedding, Prateik’s half-brother Arya Babbar took a dig at him by comparing him with his dog.
Mocking at Prateik’s second marriage, actor and stand-up comedian Arya shared a video of his new comedy gig on YouTube.
“My mother is so upset and cranky that she calls me every morning, crying and saying, ‘What should I do now that I have learnt these Punjabi boliyan? Do one thing — you also get married for the second time,’” Arya is heard saying in the video.
He added, “I agree my father married twice, my sister also married twice, and now my brother is getting married for the second time. Even my dog, Happy, has two girlfriends. So, I don’t mind getting married for the second time, but I’m too lazy to go through the complications of a divorce.”
Joking about what his father said when he asked him about dealing with the paparazzi questions, he said, “My father said, tell them, mard toh shaadi karte rehte hai (men keep getting married).”

For the unversed, Prateik was earlier married to Sanya Sagar. However, their marriage was short-lived, and the couple got divorced in 2023. The actor is now married to actress Priya Banerjee.
Prateik’s father Raj Babbar first married Nadira Babbar in 1975, with whom he has two children, Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar.
The actor later tied the knot with Smita Patil in 1983 and welcomed Prateik in 1986. Smita passed away due to childbirth complications the same year.
Meanwhile, on work front, Prateik will be next seen in the Salman Khan starrer ‘Sikandar.’
Helmed by AR Murugadoss, the film also features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal and Sathyaraj in key roles.
The film is scheduled to release on Eid this year.
