Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has alerted four eastern states — Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand — over likely Maoist activities in the next 15 days.
The alert was issued by MHA officials at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eastern Zonal Council, which took place at the West Bengal Secretariat in Kolkata on Tuesday. Besides MHA officials, the meeting was attended by the chief secretaries and home secretaries of the four states.
There has been no Maoist activities in West Bengal recently but the recovery of Maoist posters in the once Maoist stronghold of Junglemahal area spread over the three districts of Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore has worried the state police.
