Homegrown Micromax is partnering with Huawei, the 2nd largest smartphone brand in the world, to distribute and sell Honor and Huawei phones in India.
Micromax, which has lost a lot of market share in recent years to Chinese players, is hoping to make a comeback with this partnership.
As per the deal, Micromax will help Huawei market and create branding strategies. It is expected to become their exclusive billing partner for all channels, according to media reports.
At present, Huawei has just 1 per cent market share in India, despite being a major player internationally. Hence, this partnership could be crucial for Huawei as well, particularly in the offline market where Micromax’s network could play a key role.
