This is a nightmare of the worst kind.
Just imagine the captain of a commercial passenger flight suffering a heart attack while flying a plane!
That’s exactly what happened on board a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, en route from Moscow to Dhaka. As the captain suffered a massive cardiac arrest inside the cockpit, a major tragedy was averted as the plane managed to make an emergency landing at Nagpur airport.
The aircraft was flying above Chhattisgarh capital Raipur when the crisis occurred. Contact was established with Kolkata air traffic control (ATC) immediately. Kolkata ATC coordinated with Nagpur ATC and instructed the pilot to land at Nagpur airport.
All passengers on board are safe, while the captain was been taken to a hospital.
Biman Bangladesh recently resumed flights with India following a lengthy suspension of services between the two countries due to the COVID-19 surge.
