Bhubaneswar: An Odia migrant worker of Bajapur village under Rajkanika block in Odisha’s Kendrapara district committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Yamuna Vihar, Haryana on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Gangadhar Biswal.
According to reports, Biswal and some Odia workers were working in a plywood company in Yamuna Vihar, which got closed due to the lockdown.
The company did not pay the workers their dues. A distraught Biswal had recently requested both the company and the Odisha government to make arrangements for his return to his village, failing which he had threatened to commit suicide.
Since no action was taken, he took his own life.
