Balasore: The sub-collector of Balasore has imposed 24-hour curfew at the railway station apprehending law and order situation due to arrival of a train carrying migrants on Wednesday.
The special train with over 1,100 migrant Odias has left Surat in Gujarat and will arrive at Balasore railway station at around 5 am on May 13. The passengers will be taken in buses to their respective quarantine centres from the railway station.
The sub-collector Nilu Mohapatra said since Surat is badly affected by coronavirus and people may gather at the railway station, there is possibility of spread of the virus. It may also lead to violation of lockdown norm of social distancing.
Considering these probabilities, the sub-collector imposed curfew in the are within 500 metre radius of the railway station. The curfew will be in force for 24 hours from Tuesday midnight. All entry points to the area will remain closed during the period.
