Kendrapada: A record number of migratory birds were spotted during the annual bird census in Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapada district on Wednesday.
Forest Department sources said 1,36,092 migratory birds were spotted in the national park this year as against 1,18,326 last year.
They said 17, 766 more birds have arrived in Bhitarkanika this year, which is a record high in the last 13 years.
The sources said 121 species of birds were spotted this year, whereas the number was 115 last year.
