Milk Adulteration Racket Busted In Odisha’s Cuttack; Equipment & Chemicals Seized

Cuttack: In a crackdown on unscrupulous activities, police unearthed a milk adulteration racket near a hotel in Gurudijhatia area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on a milk tanker at Kuspangi under the jurisdiction of Gurudijhatia police station and seized large quantities of adulterated milk.

The operation involved adulterating milk with chemicals, salt, and powders before it was dispatched to the market. During the raid, authorities seized the milk tank and related equipment. However, some people involved in the racket managed to flee.

Preliminary investigation showed that the milk, loaded in a pickup vehicle, was being transported from Sambalpur to a high-end company in Cuttack. Police officers monitoring the activities had been tracking the operations.

The milk was allegedly being processed using machines to mix water and other substances, rendering it unsafe for consumption.

Investigation is in progress to identify and apprehend those responsible for the illegal milk adulteration. Efforts are also on to ascertain whether this was part of a larger network supplying adulterated dairy products to urban markets.
