Angul: A mining worker died reportedly after falling into an illegal coal mine pit in the district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the worker, Labani Bhutia of Bahalasahi village under Chhendipada police station was returning home after completing his duty in the illegal mine in the same village in the morning.
While Labani was crossing the uncovered pit on his cycle, he slipped and fell into 50-ft deep mine. On being informed, his family members and locals rescued him from the pit and rushed him to nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Nobody has been arrested in this connection. Chhendipada police said no complaint regarding the incident has been filed.
