New Delhi: ArcelorMittal India Pvt Ltd has bagged the third iron ore mine notified for auction in Odisha.
The integrated steel and mining company on Monday won the Thakurani iron ore block with an estimated reserves of 180 MT in Keonjhar district by committing to pay 107.55% of its sale value to the state government.
While 10 companies had bid for the iron ore block, Amalgam Steel & Power, JSPL, BRPL, KJS Ahluwalia, ArcelorMittal & Orissa Metalliks remained in the fray with the floor price of the auction beginning at 72.4%.
In October last year, the State Directorate of Mines had notified 10 lapsing iron and manganese blocks- Nuagaon, Thakurani, Siljora-Kalimati, Jilling-Langalota, Jaribahal, Roida-II, Jururi, Narayanposhi, Mahulsukha and Ganua.
Thakurani was among the blocks reserved for “Specified End Use”.
JSW Steel has already bagged two iron ore mines — Nuagaon and Narayanposhi — with a total reserve of 980 million tonnes in the auction.
