Koida: Mineral transportation from mines in Koida area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district was paralysed on Tuesday amid 12-hour bandh call by CPI (M), demanding transfer of BDO Pallabirani Raj.

According to sources, CPI (M) activities led by MLA Laxman Munda and senior leader Bishnu Mohanty began picketing at various places under the block from 6 am. Shops, markets, government offices, including those of block, tehsil, the deputy director of mines and NHAI, remained closed.

Emergency services, bus to all educational institutions and passenger buses, however, were exempt from the bandh.

Agitating CPI(M) activists accused the BDO of functioning autocratically. They alleged that the BDO, who has been working in the block for over three years, often misbehave with the people’s representatives.

“No official work is being done without commission at the block office. But the government is reluctant to transfer the BDO,” said Munda, adding that senior Congress leaders had raised the issue in the Assembly.
