Bhubaneswar: Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra has directed the BDA to plan new initiatives for overall development of Bhubaneswar.
The minister issued the direction during a meeting with the officials of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Tuesday. The officials led by BDA vice-chairman Balwant Singh called upon the Minister at Unnati Bhawan.
During the meeting, the BDA delegation congratulated the Minister on his new role as the Chairman of BDA.
Singh provided updates on ongoing projects, including affordable housing, road construction, park development, town planning, and the comprehensive development plan (CDP) for the extended area.
They also discussed new initiatives aimed at developing the State Capital. The BDA team also spoke on restructuring the organisation in alignment with Odisha Vision 2036 and Vikshit Bharat Vision 2047.
The Minister emphasised the importance of promptly addressing public grievances and highlighted the need for strict enforcement against land encroachment and a transparent, speedy process for converting leasehold properties to freehold.
He also told them to address the flooding issue and identify the causes and implement measures to mitigate the problem. He requested them to draw up a plan for rejuvenation of Gangua river.
Senior BDA officials present at the meeting included Secretary (in charge), Deputy Commissioner (Town Planning), Allotment Officer, Planning Member, Finance Member, Engineering Member, Superintending Engineer, and Executive Engineer.
