Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Tuesday stressed further development of parks to spread green cover in Bhubaneswar.
The minister, accompanied by vice-chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Balwant Singh and other officials, visited several parks and gardens in the city including Anandabana, State Silviculture Garden at Ghatikia, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Park at Kalinga Nagar and Waste to Art Park at K-7, Kalinga Nagar.
The minister explored the facilities at Anandabana, Bhubaneswar’s premier urban forest park, and planted a ‘Swarna Champa’ sapling. He suggested to the officials to develop a flower garden within Anandabana to support the locals in their livelihood and establish similar parks throughout the city.
Covering 89.05 acre, Anandabana offers various amenities including parking, benches, gazebos, rain shelters, children’s play area, public facilities and healthy food kiosks.
At the Waste to Art Park in Kalinga Nagar, Mahapatra instructed to expedite the redevelopment work. The park, being developed by BDA, will feature sports facilities including roll ball, skating, and basketball besides flower bed trails, landscaping and sculptures.
He issued similar instructions to the officials for Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Park and State Silviculture Garden during his visit.
