Rourkela: Four hardcore Maoists, including a minor, surrendered before the Rourkela police on Friday.
The surrendered Maoists have been identified as Premchand Munda, Gaunia Munda, Motu Bidang and Sushil Munda.
Premchand hailing from Chandipur is allegedly involved in a number of Maoist activities. He was carrying a reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head.
Similarly, Motu, who had escaped from a jail in 2009, was carrying Rs 1 lakh cash reward on his head.
“The Maoists decided to give up arms as they were fed up with the rebels’ violent activities and their ideologies. They will be rehabilitated as per the rehabilitation policy of the state government,” informed Rourkela SP Umashankar Das.
