Bhawanipatna: Two persons, including a two-year-old child, were killed and more than 34 others injured after a bus in which they were travelling fell off Lalpolia Bridge on National Highway-26 near Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district on Friday.
The incident took place at around 5:30 am when the driver lost control over the vehicle due to drowsiness and it plunged into a 30 feet gorge.
After being informed about the mishap, fire services personnel and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured with the help of locals.
They were immediately rushed to Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital for treatment.
The bus was on its way to Bhawanipatna from Bhubaneswar when the mishap occurred.
