Jajpur: A minor boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river after his mother took away his mobile phone in the district on Monday.

According to sources, 15-year-old Barun Samal, the son of Karunakar Samal of Banpur village under Binjharpur block, had passed Matriculation examination and was awaiting his admission into Plus II. While he was playing games on his mobile phone on the day, his mother got irritated for wasting time and snatched away the phone. Irritated over this, Barun went away from the house.

As Barun did not return for a long time, his family members started searching for him. They found his shoes on the river banks and intensified the search suspecting that he may have drowned in the river. Finally, Barun’s body was found at a long distance from the village.

On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They have filed an unnatural death case in this regard.
