Kendrapada: In a shocking incident, a minor boy died after being given an injection by a quack at Bakikana village of Pattamundai in Kendrapada district on Sunday.
According to sources, the boy was suffering from fever, following which, his family members took him to a quack.
The quack administered an injection to cure the fever. However, the boy succumbed after an hour.
Tension gripped the locals after the death of the minor boy.
On July 5, an infant allegedly died at Puskala village in Bansapal block of Telkoi after being administered vaccine. An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) was detained by the irate villagers in connection with the incident.
Child’s father said after the vaccination, blood started oozing out twice from the spot where the injection was administered. Later, the infant didn’t take any food and died.
On May 10, a three-month-old baby girl died after allegedly being administered a wrong vaccine at Malgodown-2 area under Uditnagar police limits in Sundargarh district.
According to a complaint lodged by the infant’s parents at Uditnagar police station, an Anganwadi worker administered DPT vaccine to their daughter. Following which, the baby’s condition deteriorated and she died 3-4 hours later apparently due to overdose, they alleged.
