Jagatsinghpur: Tension ran high at Hajipur Chhack in Jagatsinghpur district following the death of an 11-year-old boy in a road mishap on Sunday.
The minor boy was going to attend his tuition classes when a speeding Tata Ace van hit him. He died on the spot.
Irked over the incident, a group of angry locals gathered near the spot and staged a road blockade by burning tyres. They demanded adequate compensation for the family of the deceased boy.
Owing to the road block, movement of vehicles on the road connecting Kandarpur and Jagatsinghpur was disrupted for more than two hours.
Later, the blockade was lifted after police reached the place and assured the agitators that their demand will be considered.
