Bhubaneswar: A minor boy was killed and his father injured as their bike fell into a river in Odisha’s Khurda district on Sunday.
According to sources, Santosh Maharana of Jaripada village under Chilika block of the district had taken his 8-year-old son Duggu Maharan on his bike to Chandapur near their village for dance practice in the morning.
They were returning home on the bike with Duggu riding pillion after dance practice was over in the afternoon. While on the way, Santosh lost control over the bike near Badasankha on Kalupada-Tangi road and they fell into the river with the vehicle.
The local people rushed to the spot and rescued Santosh and Duggu from the river. They rushed the father and son to a hospital at Tangi. But Duggu succumbed in the hospital.
As the condition of Santosh deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. His condition was stated to be critical.
On being informed, a team from Tangi police station went to the accident spot. They have registered a case and started investigation.
